If you have a desire to learn, nothing can hold you back.

There are billions of skills to acquire, but most of us are content with the little knowledge we have. An antidote to this a forever learning attitude. Once you develop this, skills acquisition becomes easy.

I have tried to learn at least one skill a week by closely following the steps below has been assistive:

#1 Know What to Learn

This pre-learning ritual is mostly omitted or is not given enough thought. Therefore,

● Try to figure out the thing you want to learn

● Find a solid reason for learning

● Know how it will prove beneficial to your future.

These 3 steps are crucial before proceeding with your learning journey.

For instance, most skills I decide to learn are related to my profession in some way. Thus, I devote ample to them.

I dedicate my free time to acquire other fun crazy skills, like learning how to whistle or do a backflip. But I always have a purpose behind learning something. This is necessary.

If you aren’t sure of what to learn in the first place:

● Try to keep an open mind

● Be generally curious and ask questions

#2 Know Where to Learn

If you want to learn something new every day, you have to be in the right place at the right time. Hence, know all the best and most convenient mediums to gain knowledge. You can:

● Learn under the guidance of a mentor

● Learn through digital learning platforms

● Learn socially with your peers

● Learn by gaining formal qualifications

Out of all these, the most engaging path is one that leads you to enthusiastic professionals, who can guide you in a friendly social setting. It is truly one of a kind experience to connect with such experts from around the globe and share your precious journey. Social learning portals, like Kool Stories, provide such smart learning solutions for modern learners.

I comfortably explored and unraveled plenty of skills, chose a mentor, tracked my progress, and slowly fulfilled my bucket list of passions.

#3 Know How to Learn

Here, you must become aware of your learning style. In my opinion, knowing how you learn best is a game-changer. It saves time by allowing you to look for the right type of learning resources. Consequently, your learning will improve and become more permanent.

There are many types of intelligence, and it is a learner’s responsibility to find a learning style that suits his needs.

The actual process of skills acquisition should begin after this.

#4 Find Time to Learn

In today’s time and age, tons of learning resources are made available through mobiles and laptops. What’s missing is the urge to gain knowledge and dedication. Therefore, the solution to learning new skills lies in finding the time for it. Real knowledge addition begins when you give yourself enough room to grow. For this, you must discipline yourself. Curate a timetable, give space to new learning, and practice endlessly.

Another working tip is to schedule learning at a time of the day when you are significantly more productive. For me, it is in the afternoon. So, I fix my learning sessions accordingly.

#5 Practice Until You Master

Some skills take more time while you can master others instantly. The learning strategy, in either case, is to practice until you ace it. This is the golden rule of mastery learning.

For this:

● Break a skill into small sub-skills

● Start learning each sub-skill

● Club all the sub-skills together

● PRACTICE, PRACTICE, and PRACTICE

● Try to teach that skill to someone else. This is best for retention.

As you progress further, learning one skill after the other, try to put them to use daily. This is good for revision and habit building.

All the best for learning!
